Volunteer opportunities
The Environment Agency Volunteer Programme
Opportunities for International Volunteers
Environment Agency volunteer projects take place in Iceland's national parks, nature reserves and nature conservation areas. Our main task is the construction and maintenance of hiking trails, but our volunteers are involved in all aspects of practical nature conservation in these areas.
Our volunteer projects are organised in partnership with agencies and organisations across Iceland. Projects are carefully chosen and our teams are managed by local staff and trained volunteer leaders. Volunteer projects last from two weeks to four months.
The remote locations of many of our projects, basic living conditions at the camps and Iceland’s notoriously changeable weather make these projects both an adventure and a challenge.
