European Voluntary Service (EVS)
National Park Conservation
The Environment Agency hosts European Voluntary Service volunteers in Iceland each summer. Our EVS placements begin in May and last for five months. The main task of our volunteer teams is the maintenance of hiking trails in the national parks and nature protection areas although Environment Agency volunteers are involved in all aspects of practical nature conservation in these areas.
EVS volunteer teams work alongside our other international volunteers and local Environment Agency staff. The main project location is Skaftafell, Vatnajökull National Park, in the south east of the country. During their four-month placement, EVS volunteers travel and work on projects throughout Iceland. Food travel and accommodation are included in the programme.
Volunteers must be from 20-30 years old and there is no participation fee. Further information about the programme can be found on the EVS website and full project details are listed in their database and in our EVS programme outline.
Please contact volunteer@umhverfisstofnun.is for an application form.
The deadline for applications is 14th January 2011.
